3 Positive Lessons from Kyle Cease

Kyle Cease – comedian, inspirational speaker

So often we get caught up in our past and stop living in the present. When we focus on our story of the past we relive that moment, making it hard to remove ourselves from that past. When we truly live in the present, we are able to get rid of past associations, let downs and hurdles that can cripple our growth and happiness.

The thought, “I can’t make money because the economy is bad,” sets you up to fail. This thought will keep you from getting up off the couch. What if you thought about more like, “Oh, the economy is bad? Let’s figure out what we can do to rise to this challenge.” With one thought you can see the situation in a completely different light.

These thoughts go for losing weight and getting healthy as well. When we think, “I can’t lose weight” or “I’ve tried everything, the weight just doesn’t come off,” we are just making our thoughts become reality. Everyone can lose weight. Everyone can get healthy. It’s our own minds that put hurdles in our way. When we decide to take action for ourselves rather than only reacting to the events around us, we start to live the life that we want.

3 Tips to Become a Positive Thinker

  1. Turn Your Limiting Thoughts Around – Thoughts such as, “just my luck that this would happen,” “I can’t do ____ because of _____ ,” or “I need to do _____ before I can do ______ and have fun.” These thoughts make it hard for our subconscious to find great opportunities because it is being told that it doesn’t matter. Instead, think, “I’m glad I have this opportunity to learn and challenge myself,” “I don’t need ______ to do ____, I’m going to do that anyway.”
  2. Develop a Personal Mantra – It may seem strange at first to have a mantra or to speak affirmations to yourself but it one of the best ways to help you communicate with your subconscious. When you are saying your mantra, you need to put emotion behind it. A mantra without emotion won’t be able to compete with the limiting beliefs that you already have emotions with. Try something like, “I’m surrounded by wealth and laughter.” You can make it anything that you would like. Say it to yourself out loud, with emotion at least 3 times a day for a month. After that month, you will notice a big change in the way you think. Change up the wording every so often so the words don’t get stale.
  3. Surround Yourself With Positivity – We all know what makes us happy and what makes us tense. Remove yourself from all of the tense situations that you can. Focus on the happy areas of your life. If you’re in a tense situation that you can’t really get away from, start looking at it in a new light. Instead of going to that situation with the thought, “oh man, I have to get this done,” replace it with “I’m so glad I have something to do. I can’t wait to learn more about this so I can move beyond it.”
