Why You Can’t See What’s in Your Fridge

By: Joel Turner|June 14, 2012|Posted in: Personal Development

We’re all guilty of looking into a mostly full fridge and thinking, “there’s nothing to eat.” We then go to the store or a restaurant and bring home some goodies that we were craving. When we open up the fridge to put away some of the new goodies we realize there is barely any room left. What is going on?

Changing the Story We Tell Ourselves

Full Episode of Oprah’s Lifeclass: the Tour: Tony Robbins on Living Fearlessly

Tony Robbins talks about how we tell ourselves stories that may impair or delude the way we see our world. The story here is that we are thinking, “there’s nothing to eat,” before we even get to the fridge or pantry. When we get there, our brains actually reaffirm our thought and we don’t see anything to eat.

Brandi Rollins Teaches How to Live in Abundance

brandi rollins author of raw foods on a budgetWe got a copy of Brandi‘s book, Raw Foods on a Budget. We thought we would just be getting great recipes that we could make for cheap. What we got was an amazing education about ourselves and our thoughts. We now eat much cheaper than before through the techniques discussed in the book.

One of the definitions of abundance is, Plentifulness of the good things of life; prosperity. Most of us already live in abundance, we just don’t know about it. We have plenty of the good things in life all around us. One practice to see how much abundance we have is to try to eat everything you have in your house before you go to the store or restaurant again. Most people can live for weeks on what they have in their fridge and pantry.

Try this just once to see how much food you really have. Try to be aware of what is truly in your fridge. You’ll be amazed at how much money you’ll save on food. This technique works very well for the fridge and the pantry but it doesn’t just stop there. You can apply this technique to all aspects of your life. Sometimes we get so caught up in thinking something external will make us happy or that product will make our life better. When we look at what already have and what we really need, it’s so minimal and easy. The best part about having what we need already is that we can share anything extra we get with our loved ones.

Be sure to grab Brandi’s book and check out her many projects.
