We had a great and varied group of people to kick off our first Kale University Round Table. The topic of the night was digestion. Here’s a rundown of what we discussed as the questions and answers came up organically.
Our first question was about food combining and what we can do to help our digestion move along quickly and efficiently.
Try to Eat Mono Meals
One of the most efficient ways is to eat mono meals, which means only one type of food for a whole meal. This could be 5 bananas for a meal or a green leaf salad for a meal. It’s easiest to make juices and smoothies to get the mono meals.
Don’t Over Eat
Another way to help your digestion while trying to work on food combining is to not overeat. Even it is the healthiest food going to your stomach, if you overload it, you will notice a much harder time digesting.

What are some of the digestion benefits of fermented foods? This is a great topic that we’ve hit upon with our fermented veggies. The probiotics and cultures in the fermented foods really help the flora in your body to break down foods and get the nutrients to your body quickly and more efficiently.
Non Dairy Kefir
Non dairy kefir has a lot of great benefits and is one of the easiest cultured foods to produce. It usually takes about three days to create a batch of kefir. One of the best parts about making it is that the kefir grains double each batch. I now have too much kefir and have been giving it away which is awesome for everyone!
