Q: “Hey, I’m looking for a good wheatgrass juicer. I have a centrifuge juicer already and am limited in space and money. Do you have any recommendations? A masticating juicer is also an option…”
What a great question! It’s so important to get wheatgrass into the system. And there are a million reasons why. But for now let’s address HOW we get it into the body. We can’t blend it, as blending actually breaks the cell wall with the blade and diminishes it’s ingredients. You want to juice it, or even chew it if you’re in a pinch. You can even add a few blades to a glass of regular tap water to rid it of the fluoride & other harmful chemicals.
Your best bet to get started is a “masticating” juicer which literally replicates the act of chewing the grass and dispensing it. You can opt for a single or double auger juicer (price alert- doubles are more) but if you’re wanting to just juice the wheatgrass you can try a manual juicer available on amazon for just $50. This particular juicer is great if you travel and need something you can take with you and use on the go.
Or if you’re already committed to juicing and want to make sure you are getting the maximum nutritional value out of your efforts, I highly recommend the Omega 8006 which has an awesome 15 year warranty and is recommended by many juicing and health enthusiasts.
The reason the 8006 is the mac daddy of juicers is simply this: it’s a single auger, which means it does wheatgrass and everything under the sun. Dark leafies, kale, romaine, and all fruits. It also doubles as a ice cream maker! You can put frozen fruits like bananas and strawberries thru it for perfectly pure, raw goodness without one tremble of guilt.
So it depends on what your juicing needs are. The manual wheatgrass juicer is fine, but you’ll be cranking all day long, literally if you plan to do much more.
If you’re a part of the juicing movement, just want things to go a little smoother and make sure that you get what you’re paying for in regards to nutritional value and your grocery bill, the Omega 8006 won’t let you down.
I absolutely LOVE this conversation so if you have more questions or want to talk more please comment!
