Purée Living: The Baby Bullet Blog
Equally ingenious and adorable, this baby version of our favorite little blender is popping up all over the place- it’s on tv, at Target and on Amazon. It’s arguably the most comprehensive system for creating baby food, and it’s the Baby Bullet! They’ve thought of everything you need to blend, steam, freeze and store the perfect little portions for your little foodie.
There are of course other options as well for savvy parents who aim to prepare all their own baby bites. Here’s a food mill reinvented for baby, and of course you can do the same basic recipes with a basic small blender by Hamilton Beach.
Here is a wonderful blog full of healthy recipes, great advice and approachable workouts- all written with kids and parents in mind: The Baby Bullet Blog
Spicing Up Baby’s Food?
Sure, why not? Here’s a good example of the kind of thinking that goes on in Baby Bullet posts:
I declared that there was no point in baby food. Instead, I suggested that we feed our children the same healthy foods that we eat ourselves. Doing so makes us healthier—we tend to cook better-for-you foods when little ones are sharing—and our babies, too—complex flavors excite developing palates at a critical time in their food preference development. It can feel like a big jump, though, to go from feeding baby bland purees to grown-up foods.
If sharing your food with baby feels like too big a jump, I’ve got a small step that will make a big difference: jazz up your little one’s food using herbs and spices. This little trick makes purees much tastier, stimulates kiddo’s palate with more complex flavors and provides a host of health benefits. A dash of cardamom or pinch of basil can do all that? You betcha.
