If you have ever had fruit, fermented foods, and/or kombucha out on the counter you have probably had your share of fruit flies. The pesky little flies can multiply very quickly and spread all throughout your house or work-space Below are a few quick tips to naturally get rid of those flies and get your space back to normal.
The Open Soap Dish Trap
This is my favorite method; it has worked for me quite well. Put some apple cider vinegar or kombucha to a small bowl and add a few drops of dish soap to break the surface tension of the water so the flies will sink instead of resting on the surface.
The Funnel Fly Trap
Grab a jar and put some apple cider vinegar, fruit and/or kombucha in it. Create a funnel out of a piece of paper. Insert the small end of the funnel in the jar and tape the paper to the jar so the flies can’t escape. The flies will have a hard time flying back out of the funnel.
The Plastic Wrap Trap
Add your apple cider vinegar, kombucha and/or rotten fruit to a glass or jar and cover the top with plastic wrap. Poke holes in the plastic wrap with a toothpick. These holes will allow the flies to get in but make it hard for them to get back out.
