The importance of stretching is something I will always talk about. After a night of sleep, before and after working out or for no particular reason but to feel good, feeling that connection between body and mind with proper breathing is important. Our minds tend to wonder away from our bodies and giving yourself a 10-15 minutes of absolute concentration (no multi-tasking here) is a gift you are giving yourself. Many injuries can be prevented if your joints, muscles, tendons and bones are kept active.
There is no excuse for not stretching. If you are a multi-tasker like myself, you can still stretch several times during the day, for example while:
- waiting for a download,
- waiting for the green light when crossing the street,
- walking your dog,
- at the airport before, during and after a flight,
- watching tv,
- reading a book,
Very rarely we use the entire body all at once so why not move the parts that are idle and benefit from it? So stretch yourself!
